KoPT to reduce length of upcoming intake jetty in Howrah

Kolkata: Kolkata Port Trust (KoPT) is hopeful that the reduced length of the upcoming intake jetty at Nazirgunge in Howrah will not be an impediment to the safe turning of ships. The Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA) that has earlier decided on 55 m length of the intake jetty will soon submit a detailed proposal with the reduced length being 35m to KoPT. "A joint inspection has recently been made by our technical team along with KMDA after which it was agreed that KMDA will submit a report with reduced length of the intake jetty. At present, an intake jetty of HMC located in the Botanical Garden supply water to the Puddapukur water treatment plant from where the treated water was supplied to the residents. Following this, the alternative site at Nazirgunge was chosen and work for the water intake jetty had started in the middle of 2018..
