End of speculations! Suvendu Adhikary quits Trinamool

Senior Trinamool leader and once a close confidant of party supremo Mamata Banerjee, Suvendu Adhikari has resigned from his post.

His resignation has pulled the curtain over all the speculations during the past few months.

However, Adhikari has quit as minister for transport and irrigation but remains a Trinamool MLA as he has not resigned from the Assembly.

Nevertheless, his resignation from the cabinet could be a precursor for his exit from the party.

His resignation has pulled the curtain over all the speculations during the past few months.

However, Adhikari has quit as minister for transport and irrigation but remains a Trinamool MLA as he has not resigned from the Assembly.

Nevertheless, his resignation from the cabinet could be a precursor for his exit from the party. 

His resignation will certainly have an impact on the forthcoming Assembly polls and it could be a blow to the Trinamool Congress in Bengal.

Adhikari`s resignation letter to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was submitted this morning.

A copy was sent to Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar.

The Nandigram MLA has made no secret of his discontent within the Trinamool for the past two to three months, skipping all party and cabinet meetings. 

Adhikari, a heavyweight candidate is capable to fight elections on his face value as in a recent public meeting the former minister said "chena bomun r poita lagena" (the common saying in Bengali means the known does not require any introduction).

It is believed that he was unhappy with the prominence given to Mamata Banerjee`s nephew and Lok Sabha MP Abhishek Banerjee, though, he never spoken about it publicly.  

Adhikary has many times expressed his displeasure with the influence of poll strategist Prashant Kishor in party affairs.
