Kolkata | Tuesday | 17th January, 2017

Summary:

"There is an immediate need to start the inter-disciplinary public policy school, which will be the first in the country. KOLKATA: Presidency University needs more privately funded endowment chairs like the Infosys Foundation-funded chair in economics set up in 2015, feels Presidency University Mentor Group chairman Sugata Bose. "We had proposed that the remuneration of faculty in Presidency University be made at par with the teachers of the Central Universities. "Our primary interest lies with the School of Public Policy . The reason: such chairs give more flexibility in terms of remuneration, which is restricted in case of distinguished chairs set up from state government funds.Bose, after consulting other mem bers of the group, feels the university should make appointments to the vacant chairs only when outstanding scholars are available to take up such assignments..
