KOLKATA: In a first, a Kolkata-based production house has sent a legal notice to the Federation of Cine Technician & Workers of Eastern India (FCTWEI) asking them to restrain from executing their 'arbitrary decision' of not allowing technicians to shoot in the UK from June 22. Despite the MOU having expired on April 30 this year and the production house under no legal binding to follow the guidelines, it had still given the 15 days' notice to FCTWEI before the UK schedule of both films. While 16 technicians were already in the UK, tatkal visa applications were made for four technicians on June 15.According to the legal notice, FCTWEI had still sent an email to the production house on June 17 stating that it wouldn't allow the shooting from June 22 despite the fact that the MOU has already expired. The notice was sent on June 20 following a month-long rift over the London leg of the shooting of Joydeep Mukherjee 's 'Chalbaaz'.While the leading stars of the forthcoming film - Subhashree Ganguly and Shakib Khan - have already boarded their flight for London, FCTWEI president Swarup Biswas had insisted that no shooting of the film will be allowed in London since the production house hadn't taken along the mandatory 19 technicians. In the legal notice sent by Naik Naik & Company on behalf of production house Eskay Movies , it has been stated that FCTWEI had entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Eastern India Motion Pictures Association (EIMPA) which had laid down the guidelines for producers to follow vis-a-vie taking technicians while shooting abroad..
