Opposition MLAs stage a walkout in UP

LUCKNOW: The Samajwadi Party led opposition launched a blistering attack on the ruling BJP in the UP assembly over withdrawal of cases related to communal violence against saffron party leaders saying that the move would only lead to more communal tensions in the state. Ahir had said that out of the total 822 incidents of communal tensions and violence reported from across the country in 2017, UP topped the chart with 195 incidents. "Are cases being withdrawn to spark more communal violence in the state? The leader of the house (CM) is also facing such cases," Chaudhary said, amid a din.The issue cropped up during the question hour when SP MLA Sanjay Garg sought to know from the state government as to how many cases of communal violence were reported in the state during the period January 1 2017 to July 31, 2018.
