Summary:

LUCKNOW: The artificial ponds created by Lucknow Municipal Corporation for immersion of Ganpati idols are finding no takers . With Ganesh Chaturthi culminating with visarjan, the corporation had created these ponds in Jhulelal Vatika and at Kudia Ghat as alternatives to the Gomti to save the river from pollution.LMC had put up hoardings at the two sites requesting people to use the artificial ponds for idol immersion. It will be a disgrace to perform the visarjan here.” At Jhulelal Vatika, Anmol Soni said, “The pond is very dirty and has garbage in it. We will soon use microphones to urge people to use the ponds but it is a sociological change which should come in individuals themselves towards nature.”(With inputs from Pranchal Srivastava) But people are still not using it, even with hoardings requesting them to do so..
