LUCKNOW: In a first, semester system will be followed in the undergraduate examinations starting on Thursday.About 14,775 students from LU and 167 affiliated colleges will appear in the exams at 33 centres on the first day. Now, the theory paper will be of 80 marks and internal assessment of 20 marks. The UG students said they are nervous but feel the new system will help them academically.“I am worried about the strict marking which may take place due to the change in examination pattern . But in terms of preparations and knowledge gain, they are better than students who appeared in the annual examination system. To ensure greater transparency in the examinations, LU has installed CCTV cameras and provided video cameras to the flying squads to secretly record students using unfair means. Also, scoring in the theory paper would be made tough, as it’s a pre-conceived notion that in internal assessment, students score more marks easily,” said BA student Supriya Pathak “The semester system has helped us in understanding the concepts better as there were continuous learning, assessment and feedback from teachers,” she added. The students said that they have three big examination fears - difficulty level, marking and pattern change..
