Cops may drop sedition case against AMU students

AGRA: The Aligarh police are likely to drop the “sedition” charges against 14 students of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) on “technical grounds”, even as they identified 17 students who were allegedly involved in fracas and vandalising vehicles inside the campus on February 12.Confirming the move, SSP Aligarh Akash Kulhari said that no evidence has been found relating to the sedition charges. He demanded that police cases filed against students should be withdrawn and outsiders who had created ruckus on February 12 should be booked. He said, action will be taken accordingly.Meanwhile, a delegation of Samajwadi Party leaders including former cabinet minister Kamal Akhtar reached AMU to meet the students sitting on dharna. The committee members will go through the documents provided by the police before submitting its final report..
