Lucknow: IPS talks of encounters in interview, suspended

LUCKNOW: The state government has suspended IPS officer of 1992 batch Jasvir Singh for violation of service rules over his remarks in an interview to a news portal and for remaining absent from duty without sanction from appropriate authority. In the interview, the IPS officer had disagreed with police encounters becoming the new norm.Singh was also quoted as saying that the 'system' wants bureaucrats to be loyal to political persons which was completely unconstitutional and that there was no utility of his post of ADG rules and manuals, since it does not serve any public interest and the government paying salary for doing nothing was a waste of public money. "The UP cadre officer was suspended after he failed to respond to the showcause notice that was served on him for violation of service conduct rules and for being absent from duty without taking approval of the competent authority," said principal secretary (home) Arvind Kumar.Currently posted as additional director general of police ( ADGP ), rules and manual, Jasvir was served a notice after he gave an interview wherein he made statements which were said to be in conflict with the service conduct rules..
