Congress MLAs spar over Doaba drug trade hubs

On Monday, Sultanpur Lodhi MLA Navtej Singh Cheema named villages from both Rana and Sherowalia’s constituencies as drug trade hub. “After our government came into power, 300 cases were registered in Sultanpur Lodhi police station, including around 100 each from peddlers against these two villages. After this, the SHO was sent to police lines. JALANDHAR: At the time when the issue of drugs dominates the political conversation in the state, three Congress MLAs of adjoining constituencies in Doaba, are pointing fingers at each other’s constituency for supply of drugs in the region.On Sunday, Kapurthala MLA Rana Gurjit Singh and Shahkot MLA Hardev Singh Laddi Sherowalia named two villages in Sultanpur Lodhi constituency as drug trade hubs. He also questioned that both the MLAs should tell that how many cases have been registered against drug peddlers from these villages.Speaking to TOI on Monday, Cheema said while the two MLAs from neighbouring constituency mentioned Lattiawali and Toti villages, they did not mention how many cases were registered against peddlers from these two villages..
