Ludhiana: Two construction workers killed, one injured in road accident

LUDHIANA: Two construction workers died whereas one suffered serious injuries after the two wheeler they were riding on towards their rented accommodation was hit by an unidentified vehicle near Garhi area. Police officials said that Ajay Sawhney, Madan and Shakti were returning home on bike, driven by Ajay, after working in a village in Samrala on Friday night. The deceased were identified as 27-year-old Madan Sawhney and 24-year-old Ajay Sawhney of Bihar who lived in Slum area of Garhi Tarkhana whereas the injured is 24-year-old Shakti Kumar of the same state who lived with the deceased in the slum area. They added that later some passerby spotted the dead bodies lying on the road and informed the police.Cops said that police reached the spot and got the seriously injured Shakti shifted to Samrala Civil Hospital from where the doctors referred him to PGI Chandigarh. They added that as the trio reached near Neelon Canal, a speedily driven vehicle suddenly came from opposite side.Cops said that the unidentified vehicle hit the motorcycle at high speed and dragged the two wheeler to some distance before stopping..
