New sewerage treatment plant to curb Buddha Nullah pollution

Ludhiana: In order to curb increasing pollution levels in Buddha Nullah, the state-level technical committee conducted a meeting with officials from the MC and other departments and a approved detailed project report for installing a new sewerage treatment plant in Jamalpur on Wednesday. Along with this, two effluent treatment plants have been approved for treatment of waste coming from dairy complexes on Tajpur Road and Hambran Road. The dairy owners are also polluting the Buddha Nullah by throwing waste and cowdung inside the sewerage system which further chokes entire system at STPs as well as the drain. This treatment plant will be installed at cost of Rs 55.23 crore. Environmentalist Balbir Singh Seechewal, educationist S S Johal and many other eminent personalities will be a part of this event..
