Plantation drive organised at Ludhiana Government College for Girls

LUDHIANA: In order to increase the green cover under 'Mission Tandrust Punjab', a plantation drive is being carried out by the Punjab government in which tree saplings are being planted across the city. A large number of college students and staff members were also present on the occasion. Not only government departments, but even private and semi government organisations are coming forward for this social cause.Joint commissioner, municipal corporation Ludhiana, Dr Poonam Preet Kaur, while attending a tree plantation drive at Government College for Girls on Thursday, said 18,000 trees will be planted to achieve the target across the college. During the drive, more than 200 tree saplings were planted in and around the college premises on Thursday.While addressing the occasion, joint commissioner also thanked the officials of Indian Oil Corporation Ltd and Arun Gas Agency for supporting this social cause.While speaking on the occasion, Kaur said, “Sincere efforts are being made to make the Mission Tandrust Punjab successful as all stakeholders are contributing wholeheartedly. In view of Mission Tandrust Punjab and Swachh Survekshan 2019, tree saplings are being planted in different parts of the city, and GLADA is going to provide 18,000 plants for this purpose.”MC commissioner also said that her department is also committed for improving the city's ranking in Swachh Survekshan 2019 and efforts are being made for this purpose..
