LUDHIANA: Taking forward its green initiative, the Income Tax department, Ludhiana, in association with the police commissionerate has formed a vertical garden outside office of the commissioner of police (CP). “We initiated the green plastic initiative last year in July. The vertical garden was jointly inaugurated by IT chief commissioner Binay K Jha and commissioner of police Sukhchain Singh Gill, along with senior officials of both departments and representatives of Police-Public Foundation and Confederation of Indian industry (CII). Also vertical garden along with being easy to install does away with the need of huge space requirement,” he said.Later Sukhchain Singh Gill said, “The garden would not only make buildings beautiful but also help increasing green cover in the city. The idea was to make Ludhiana cleaner and greener by utilising, hazardous plastic waste to grow plants that too at a minimal cost..
