Summary:

Moreover the companies are pressurizing us to order the crackers now or they will not accept any orders after few days. LUDHIANA: A meeting was organized by Ludhiana Wholesale Fireworks Association ( LWFA ) on Tuesday. This is tricky situation for us as we can not place any orders until we know from which date we will be allowed to put up our stalls, as we can only calculate the required stock only after we are aware about for how many days our stalls will be in place’According to Vishal Sharma , vice president of LWFA, “I think district administration should realise urgency of our problems and without wasting any time the old licences for cracker stalls should be renewed as in addition to pressure from the manufacturers we also have huge amount of unsold stocks of last year which we were hoping to sell this year to come out of losses.” The agenda of the meeting was to decide next course of action on the delay in conducting the process of allotment of cracker stalls in the district by authorities.According to the businessmen till previous years the stalls were allotted at least 2 months prior to Diwali and this year the decision has not been taken till now by the authorities when will the process be started which is giving sleepless nights to the businessmen as they already have huge stocks of unsold crackers of last year still with them.According to Ashok Thapar , chairman of LWFA, “Every single day’s delay in allotment process is proving to be costly as it take a lot of time and money to get a stall ready for the festive season..
