'Neki Di Diwar' in Jalandhar to help the needy

JALANDHAR: A roadside wall named ‘Neki Ki Diwar’ was inaugurated by Jalandhar deputy commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma on Wednesday. Several persons want to donate the things but they do not find an easy platform where they could drop the articles and these could reach the needy. This wall has been set up to provide a genuine platform where donations of people could go in right hands” he added.“Any needy persons can collect the items as per their requirement and the immediate concern is to ensure that the underprivileged sections of society can be helped during the winter season,” he said.Staff of Red Cross Society stays near the wall from 9 am to 5 pm and the donation then shifts to the Red Cross office in the evening and regularly distribute among the needy.DC distributed three tricycles, five sewing machines, 200 blankets and clothes to more than 50 people on the first day. This wall is is erected to motivate people to donate whatever they want to share with others.On first day itself, around 200 needy people received help from the collected articles which was distributed among them.The wall has been started outside Guru Gobind Singh Stadium and several philanthropists were present on the occasion.Divulging the details, the deputy commissioner said that this unique initiative was aimed at roping in people to extend help for the needy.He said that under the project where people were being encouraged to donate the things which could be used by underprivileged sections of the society.“The wall has been constructed with aim to motivate people to generously donate for helping the poor fellows..
