Train passenger dies of cardiac arrest

Ludhiana: An onboard passenger from Amritsar to New Delhi on a Mumbai-bound train suffered a cardiac arrest when his train arrived at the Ludhiana railway station on Wednesday afternoon. But after some amendments in the medical helpline policy of the railways, passengers will have to pay a certain amount of fee to the medical team that looks after the patient. GRP assistant sub-inspector Sukhwinder Singh said: “The passenger was identified as Balraj Singh of Amritsar, who travelled in Dadar Express, with New Delhi as his destination. Within seconds, the affected passenger lost his consciousness, after which the railways health department team took the passenger to a nearby private hospital, where he was declared ‘brought dead’.Railway officials have informed the Government Railway Police (GRP) to investigate the matter.
