Tribune News ServiceLudhiana, September 16Indian Bank employees staged a protest against their long-pending demands here on Monday and passed a resolution which was submitted to the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer at Chennai. “Industrial relations will receive a serious setback and we cautioned our higher management in this regard. A series of meetings have taken place but these meeting were not result oriented, which is unfortunate. This forced us to go on agitation,” said Harvinder Singh, general secretary of the Employees’ Union of Indian Bank. Their major demands include uninterrupted need-based recruitment of manpower in all cadres (clerical, sub-staff and permanent part-time sweepers); provision of sufficient manpower to all branches; posting minimum two clerks in all branches, including newly opened ones as per the policy of the bank; release of clerical transfer orders as per the bilateral transfer policy wherever vacancies are available; stop violation of periodical transfer policy; rectify all violations; stop unilateral reduction of award staff and implement manpower assessment on a rational and scientific basis; release of Special Assistants’ post for 2018-2019 and 2019-2020; promotion from sub-staff to clerical cadre – filling up of unfilled vacancies in one category to another category; implementation of settlement on conversion of permanent part time sweepers as house keeper-cum-peons; provision of permanent sub-staff and sweepers in all branches; implementation of Supreme Court judgment in respect of equal pay for equal work; payment of bonus to casually engaged persons as per the payment of Bonus Act; release of compassionate appointment; release of ex-gratia payment to the families of the deceased employees who died before 5/08/2014; increase in fuel expenditure reimbursement and to the debit of bank’s revenue expenditure as available in many other banks; and reimbursement of crèche expenses on declaration basis to all eligible women employees..
