Railway officials hold shram daan against plastic use

Our CorrespondentLudhiana, September 17A massive ‘shram daan’ was organised at the railway station here today to create awareness against single-use plastic and to cut down its use to conserve environment. Railway officials and employees went around all areas on the platforms, approaches to the railway station and along the tracks to remove plastic waste. Tarun Kumar, railway station director, Ashok Salaria, station superintendent, along with other officials and staff, took oath and motivated passengers and vendors against the use of plastic and to keep the railway station premises clean. Passengers, vendors and railway employees were apprised of the substitute or replacement material for plastics and these were displayed on a table made of waste plastic bottles. NGO Childline Helpcare joined hands with the railway administration to help increase awareness about plastic through placards..
