Recently, Gurkomal won a gold medal in the North Zone Athletics Championship held at Sangrur on September 14 and 15 in which around 600 participants took part. Earlier, Gurkomal annexed a gold medal in 800m race in the Senior Punjab State Athletics Championship held also at Sangrur on August 4. The year 2018 too turned out to be an eventful one for Gurkomal as he clinched a bronze medal in 800m race in the Open Punjab Athletics Meet held at Sangrur.
