Police seize 3,38,500 habit-forming tablets

Mandi Ahmedgarh, Nov 12Ludhiana police claimed to have seized as many as 3,38,500 habit-forming drug tablets from various places in three separate cases from five persons. The pharmaceutical drugs were recovered by the police under the supervision of CIA Ludhiana (rural). The accused are identified as Bajit Singh alias Bobby of Talwandi Bhai, Ravi Kumar alias Ravi of Haibowal Khurad, Ludhiana; Sahil Jindal of New Jagat Nagar, Ludhiana; Thana Singh of Rataul Rohi village, Talwandi Bhai; and Ranjit Singh of Talwandi Bhai, Ferozepur. Major suspects have been in the illegal trade business for a long time now but were not caught by law enforcing agencies as they used to transport the consignments under the guise of medicines prescribed by doctors normally. Investigating officer Kikkar Singh said they had received a tip-off by special sources of the police and the accused were caught red-handed later..
