PAU scientists dwell on success story of ‘agri-preneurship’ venture

Tribune News ServiceLudhiana, November 20TS Riar, associate director (skill development) and co-principal investigator (PI) of Punjab Agri Business Incubator (PABI); Poonam A Sachdev, head, Food Science and Technology and Co-PI, PABI; and Karanvir Gill, business manager, PABI, faculty members of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), attended a three-day review and planning workshop ‘Samarth’ organised by PUSA Krishi Incubator at NASC Complex, New Delhi. On the second day of the workshop, Riar presented the success and journey of Uddam, an agri-preneurship orientation programme, and Udaan, an agri-business incubation programme of the university, being run under the guidance of JS Mahal, director of Extension Education and PI, PABI. He siad the two major takeaways from PABI were commercialisation of innovative technologies developed by PAU and business collaborations between the incubatees during the workshop. Other incubators can ould learn from PABI to promote their in-house technologies and build collaborations between the incubatees and inclusion of the farmers in start-ups, he added..
