Pedestrians at the mercy of vehicle users

Madurai | Tuesday | 13th February, 2018

Summary:

Pedestrians and cyclists waiting for a few minutes to cross the road near State Bank of India is a common scene. Parking of vehicles on both sides of the road and lack of zebra crossing have made Alagarkoil Road stretch near Tallakulam dangerous. The volume of vehicle movement on the stretch between Periyar statue and Tamukkam ground of this road is increasing all the time. Only a small stretch of road from Periyar statue to Corporation premises has median that ensures free flow of road traffic. But after it was made a one-way (by diverting the opposite traffic flow through Gokhale Road), the speed of vehicle movement has considerably increased..
