Soil health cards must for farmers: official

“In 100 villages, where the soil cards have been distributed to 100% of the farmers, it has been made mandatory to sell fertilizers only based on soil health cards. Farmers need to hand over their soil health card, based on which the required fertilizer alone would be given to farmers. The cards have details about the soil health like the nutrients available in it and which crop could be grown on it. Dakshinamoorthy said that the State government had issued 34.5 lakh soil health cards in 2017-18 and had targeted to issue another 35 lakh in 2018-19. “The card will tell about the particular fertilizer the land required and also the quantity of fertilizer required for the crop,” he said..
