The High Court, which was hearing a slew of petitions seeking removal of encroachments from waterbodies in Madurai, also took cognisance of the similar situation in the other four districts. The court sought a status report in the case on October 26 and directed the Collector to inform the action initiated towards removal of encroachments in the next hearing. The judges added that though they were concerned about the trees, the issue of encroachments had to be addressed..
