The state is under a strict lockdown till May 24, on one side, strictness is being seen, while on the other side, an awareness campaign is also being conducted by the Tamil Nadu police.

A police officer is spreading awareness about the Covid-19 by singing a song on the streets of Madurai city in Tamil Nadu; he can be heard appealing to people to stay at their homes through his songs.

This police officer is none other than the folk singer Mathichiyam Bala from Madurai, who also sang Makka Kalanguthappa song in Vijay Sethupathi`s film Dharma Durai.

A few viral videos have surfaced on social media where the lockdown violators are being stopped by the police and then Mathichayam is seen giving the message in his voice.

The lyrics of Bala`s song urge people to remain in their homes as Covid-19 is spreading like poison across the country.

Bala further appeals to the locals to stay at home and not venture out unnecessarily.

He also said that people who used to stand in queues for various reasons have now started to stand in a queue to cremate their loved ones.

Calling this a terrible situation, Bala appealed to the people to get vaccinated.

He said that the police fraternity had got vaccinated, and all of them were safe.
