Defunct theatre collapses in fire accident in Madurai

more-inHuge quantity of raw materials stocked by a tyre factory in a dysfunctional cinema theatre premises at Othakadai near Madurai were destroyed in a fire accident that broke out in the small hours of Tuesday. Soon after the fire fighting started, the tin-roof of Sivalinga Theatre collapsed covering the raw materials for TVS Tyres. With narrow approach roads on Ayyappan Nagar and Nanjil Colony, fire tenders could not come closer to the theatre premises. Besides, the erstwhile cinema hall, the raw materials were stocked even outside the hall on the theatre premises after putting up huge shelter. The flames in the rear side in the theatre premises burnt the door, windows, plumbing lines of a house of one A.B..
