Corpn. okays AMRUT, ADB-funded projects

Summary:

BJP councillors were opposed to diverting AMRUT funds and clubbing them with ADB funds for rehabilitation of underground drainage network. Mayor Kavita Sanil had convened the special meeting with agendas pertaining to works worth ? 124 crore under AMRUT and ? 65 crore under ADB-funded projects. New areas, including Vamanjoor, Angaragundi, Thiruvail, Mangalanagar and Kudambaru, which hitherto did not have underground drainage network, would get it under the ? 33.66-crore package. The corporation has proposed to undertake underground drainage network rehabilitation through the ADB-funded works too in two packages of ? 34.32 crore and ? 33.66 crore. Under AMRUT funds, the corporation proposed to spend ? 33.25 crore towards drinking water supply and ? 56.66 crore and ? 34.17 crore for underground drainage networks in the old city municipal area in two packages..
