Police seize 200kg beef; three held

MANGALURU: The District Crime Intelligence Bureau (DCIB) unit of the Dakshina Kannada district police, on Sunday, arrested three people on charges of illegal cattle slaughter and recovered 200kg meat and three cows from Majal Adda in Belthangady Police have identified the accused as Ibrahim, Arfak and Abdul. The three animals recovered alive are valued at Rs 25,000.Based on information from credible sources that the trio was running an illegal cattle slaughter racket and trade, a team from the DCIB, led by inspector Sunil Nayak, raided the place at 6.45am and arrested the trio. Three other accused Jabbar, Koti Abbas and Sammed managed to give the police a slip, and the police are on the lookout for them.An SUV , a Maruti Omni van and an autorickshaw in which the meat was stocked to be transported, were seized by the police.Police have estimated the value of the meat at Rs 50,000..
