MANGALURU: Mangaluru-Bengaluru train services cancelled due to damage to railway tracks in the ghat section may take several days to restore, according to officials of Southern Western Railway.Officials told TOI that per day, four trains , including goods trains, pass through the Mangaluru-Hassan route. “The stretch of about 55km from Subrahmanya Road to Yedakumeri is damaged and services were completely suspended. Nobody is allowed to enter this stretch, other than railway staff. However, service was stopped last week. Repair work will commence after rain stops as it is risky,” officials pointed out, hinting that it may take a week or two for normal train operations to restart.Work will commence once the IMD gives the green signal and it is conducive to begin restoration.Due to heavy rain, landslips, flash floods and closure of Shoranur–Kozhikode section in Palghat Division and Ernakulam– Kottayam–Kayamkulam section in Trivandrum Division, the following changes were made: Ernakulam-Kottayam-Kayankulam trains resumed partially on Sunday, special trains operated under suitable speed restrictions Ernakulam-Shoranur and Shoranur-Ernakulam services remained suspended till Sunday evening..
