One dead as well collapses in Udupi

Udupi: A daily-wage worker was killed and three others injured after the upper portion of a well , which they were digging, collapsed near Aloor gram panchayat in Kundapur on Thursday.The deceased is Gopala Mogaveera , 32. The injured are being treated at a private hospital in Kundapur.The incident happened when the workers were digging a huge well at Satish Hegde’s garden. Gopal’s body was taken out of the rubble with the help of two earthmovers in a rescue operation spanning three hours.Gangolli police have registered a case. The work was going on for the past 5-6 days. When the workers emptied water from the well at 8.30am on Thursday, the mound above got wet and collapsed on them, killing Gopal and injuring Chandra Poojary, 40, and Shekhar Poojary, 38.Sathish Hegde, who was standing outside the well, also fell into the well..
