KIOCL Ltd to set up 5MW solar power plant at Gundlupet

The company that has already set up a 380 Kwp rooftop solar power plant and commissioned a 1.3MW land based solar power plant in January here, is now planning to set up a 5MW solar power plant. MANGALURU: KIOCL Ltd which requires around 30MW power for its on-going operations in this coastal city is betting big on solar power. “We have already placed work order to set up a 5MW solar power plant which is expected to be commissioned within a time period of six months,” Subba Rao told TOI.The above solar plant will be set up at Gundlupet near Mysuru on a turnkey basis, Subba Rao said adding this will ensure that the project is up and running in a specific time frame without any cost and time over runs. KIOCL Ltd that produced 0.1 MT of pellets in 2015-16, touched 1.46 MT subsequently. “We have earmarked around Rs 200 crore for modernising the plant for which Birender Singh has already laid foundation stone,” he said, adding KIOCL has already placed an order for Rs 18 crore for installing a reclaimer which will help improve efficiency of this plant..
