Central Railway had proposed to operate the Covid19 special train between Mumbai and Mangaluru keeping in mind the upcoming festival season

Taking up the needs of train patrons in this regard, Kini said Central Railway has proposed to operate the Covid19 special train between Mumbai and Mangaluru keeping in mind the upcoming festival season.

The train was operating between Mumbai CSTM and Mangaluru Junction (trains 12133/134) before its cancellation owing to the pandemic.

At present, no train is being operated from Mangaluru Central towards Mumbai.

South Western Railway Zonal Users’ Consultative Committee (ZRUCC) Member Kunjal Venkatesh Kini  urged Southern Railway (SR) authorities to facilitate operation of the proposed Mumbai Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus Mumbai (CSTM)-Mangaluru-Mumbai CSTM Covid-19 special express to and from Mangaluru Central.

Kini made this request in a letter to the divisional railway manager of SR’s Palakkad division.

At present, no train is being operated from Mangaluru Central towards Mumbai.

Kunjal Venkatesh Kini said the proposed special train may be operated out of Mangaluru Central till normal train services resumed.

If the train is operated from Mangaluru Central, it will be of much help for travellers from Mangaluru towards northern coastal Karnataka, Goa as well as Mumbai.

Mangaluru Central is handling only one daily train and one tri-weekly train towards Mumbai and extending this train will help the locals, he noted.
