Drive to enroll child beggers in schools

The district education department has started a drive to enroll minor beggar children in schools by convincing parents to send their children to the institutes. Officials of the department recently visited various bus terminals and railway stations to talk to beggar children and their parents. Once enrolled, these children can avail benefits of schemes sponsored by the state and central government.” We have identified over 25 kids so far who do not attend schools.”Basic education officer (BSA), Mahesh Chandra, said, “Officials have been instructed to conduct a survey to identify children who have either dropped out or not attended schools at all.
