Now, door-to-door drive to identify leprosy patients in UP

Bijnor: Now, a door-to-door drive to identify leprosy patients will be conducted in Uttar Pradesh to ensure that no patient remains unidentified. With these symptoms, trained health staff detects the patients.Kumar added, “Multi Drug-Therapy (MDT) is a free treatment available for leprosy patients. It is aimed at detecting all patients affected by leprosy and curing them.” In the meanwhile, teams will detect leprosy patients seeing symptoms among people.According to officials, over 400 patients are detected here in the district on an average every year and most of them are cured.Leprosy, caused by bacteria, affects skin and nerves. In Bijnor alone, as many as 3,500 teams have been made, which will go from house to house to spread awareness about the disease and also identify patients.Nodal officer for leprosy, Rohitash Kumar told TOI that the state government has launched ‘leprosy patients search campaign’ from July 16 and it will continue till July 26..
