District level inspection finds 44 Meerut schools not providing mid-day meal to students; probe ordered

The number is higher than the figure of 40 schools which a state level inspection had found. Meerut: After a recent inspection by the Mid-Day Meal Authority on the basis of data received on Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS) at the state level found that 3,530 schools across the state were not distributing mid-day meals among students, a district level inspection has found that as many as 44 schools in the district were not providing mid-day meals to the students. The count is even more than what was found in a one-day inspection made on July 4. In the state-level inspection it was found that out of the total 1.68 lakh state government schools, as many as 14,192 schools did not submit details about Mid-Day Meal being served via IVRS.“All the block education officers are instructed to take note of the inspection and find the reasons behind no mid-day meal distribution in schools. The divisional assistant director (basic) has ordered an inquiry in the matter and issued instructions in this regard.“It has been found in the inspection that as many as 44 schools in Meerut have not provided mid-day meal for a continuous period of 10 days between July 1-15..
