UP raises retirement age of nat’l, state award-winning teachers to 65

Meerut: In an attempt to address the crippling staff shortage in primary and upper primary schools across the state, Uttar Pradesh government has decided to increase the retirement age of state and national award winning teachers in government schools from 62 to 65.According to officials from the education department, at least 36 teachers are rewarded every year at the state and national level for their exemplary work.In a statement, Anupama Jaiswal, minister of state (independent charge) for basic education, said, “The Uttar Pradesh government has decided that award-winning primary and upper primary school teachers will be able to continue in service till the age of 65..
