Summary:

“I had raised the point in a meeting with Uttarakhand forest officials. It is being considered that it might have been hunted by the poachers. Also, a cow elephant’s body was found in five pieces on March 25 at Badhapur range connected with Uttarakhand border. We have demanded several times to repair the wall, but neither the UP forest department nor Uttrakhand pay attention over our grievances.”The wall and solar fencing was constructed to protect populated area. However, four people were arrested. When asked about the matter, Bijnor divisional forest officer M Semmaran admitted that the broken wall is posing threat to wildlife and creating man-animal conflict. Recently, in a meeting we asked the farmers on the UP side to protect the wall, but did not take the responsibility..
