Malaria dept checks for cases of Lymphatic Filariasis

The areas to be covered include Mawana, Parikshitgarh, Maachra, Hastinapur, Rohta, Sardhana, Jani, Bhawanpur, Kharkhauda, Bhoorbharaal, Saroorpur, Daurala, upper primary school (Qazipur), primary school (Prehlad Nagar), upper primary school (Kesarganj), upper primary school (Dorli), primary school (Kashi) and International Public School (Ganga Nagar),” said Yogesh Saraswat, Meerut district malaria officer.The sample kits provided by the government can give the result under 10 minutes by means of the indicators present on them. Lymphatic Filariasis (LF) is commonly known as elephantiasis. The teams will visit 24 schools in rural areas and six schools in urban areas and examine the kids in the age group of 9-14 years for the disease. It is a disfiguring and disabling disease, which a victim generally acquires in childhood.“As many as five teams have been formed to check whether the disease has a presence in Meerut or not. So far, no person has tested positive to the disease..
