Swine flu count touches 24 ; dcos sound alert in Meerut

Meerut: The state health department has sounded alert after number of confirmed cases of H1N1 swine flu virus touched 24 in January.With this, the Meerut district has 42 confirmed cases of swine flu disease between December 2018 and January 2019.Director General (Medical and Health), UP, Padmakar Singh, said, “An alert has been sounded for swine flu in the state and the monitoring of these cases is being done. Also, epidemiological study and travel history of patients are being checked, the health department authorities said.The standard protocol to tackle swine flu is that once a case of swine flu is reported, the health authorities conduct a case mapping and at least 50 houses situated in close proximity are surveyed and checked for the virus. Meanwhile, the stock of the Tamiflu medicines in the district is around 30,000. Several awareness camps are also being set up. Meanwhile, the residents are being asked to maintain hygiene so that the disease is contained.”Meerut chief medical officer Raj Kumar Chaudhary told TOI that the government hospitals in the district have been asked to reserve additional beds for swine flu patients.“A demand for 1,000 vaccines has been sent to the state government so that the doctors treating the swine flu patients can remain safe from the disease..
