Unit heads of Bijnor, Chandpur sugar mills resign amid farmers’ protest over dues

Bijnor: Hours after hundreds of sugarcane farmers held a ‘mahapanchayat’ here seeking their dues, unit heads of Bijnor and Chandpur sugar mills resigned from their posts on Tuesday afternoon. These mills owe Rs 61 crore to the farmers which is of previous year’s crushing season. Farmers were demanding their dues and on the way to agitation. It is unfortunate that farmers who are feeding the whole country are hungry themselves.
