Nabbed after fierce encounter, hurt criminal comfortably walks out of hospital as cops doze off

Meerut: Leaving local police red faced, a criminal with several cases of loot escaped from their clutches hours after he was overpowered after a gun battle with a Meerut police team. The encounter took place near a college in Meerut’s Ganganagar area.Tomar was admitted to the emergency section of the hospital, and a police constable and a home guard were escorting him. But, he comfortably escaped on foot while the two security personnel were fast asleep on early Sunday morning.In the CCTV footage of the hospital, Tomar was seen walking out of the hospital at around 5 in the morning with no security around.“A case of criminal negligence has been registered against constable Ankit and home guard Shiv Kumar at Medical police station and a departmental probe has been initiated against them,” said Rajesh Kumar, superintendent of police (SP) Meerut (rural).Tomar has more than dozen cases of loot and chain snatching registered against him at various police stations of the district.His arrest was seen as a major shot in the arm for the local police as incidents of loot and chain snatching, especially in Ganganagar area, were keeping the department on it toes.“Several teams have been pressed in action to arrest Tomar,” the SP said..
