Gadkari lays foundation of highway projects worth Rs 11,595 crore in west UP

Meerut: In his whirlwind tour weeks before elections are announced, Union minister Nitin Gadkari laid the foundation stones of highway projects worth Rs 11,595 crore in West UP. We will bring it back and use it to our benefit.”The major projects he unveiled during his visit were 50-km-long four-laning of Garh Mukteshwar Road to Meerut worth Rs 1,500 crore. Six-laning of NH 24 from Hapur Bypass to Moradabad costing Rs 2,140 crore, broadening of Meerut-Sonipat-Baghpat Road and four-laning of Meerut to Najibabad (53.95 kms) worth Rs 1,022 crore.He also advised sugarmill owners to produce more ethanol instead of sugar. “When India was divided, six rivers were also equally divided and the water of our rivers is going into Pakistan. Make more ethanol by installing diffusers instead of building new sugarmills.” Besides, he also sanctioned three sewage treatment plants (STP) for Rs 214 crore to prevent sewage disposal into Kali River which is contributing to diseases in many villages in Meerut..
