Meerut: Communal tension prevailed at Gangnauli village in Baghpat district after some youths attacked some members of the minority community on Holi day. Trouble started when a few local youths threw gulal (colour) on members of the minority community while they were returning from a mosque.This led to a heated argument between two groups and soon turned violent. The incident occurred on Thursday when a few drunk youths passing through a Muslim locality threw colour on members of the other community, which led to a ruckus. An FIR has been filed and a force deployed.According to one of the victims, Farhan, 18, “We were returning from mosque after offering namaz when a group of 20 men began throwing colour on us. Those injured were given immediate first aid and they have been discharged.”.
