An army man returns home after 7 year: Feared the plight of Rathi gang who killed his family

Pravesh Kumar (36) working for Indian army raised his children away from his native village in U.P’s Baghpat that was once during his time was a town of dreaded Rathi gang.

Pravesh left Gangnauli in 2013 after his world turned upside down.

His brother Praveen Kumar was shot dead in 2012, then the witness both parents and a cousin were killed in 2013 followed by death of another cousin.

In a span of two years he made five visits to village crematorium but couldn’t dare to enter the village due to the same fear for which he left the village.

What started with an argument between Pravesh’s elder brother and member of Rathi family led to consecutive killing of all the five members in his family, Pravesh added in a statement “I have only visited my home when a family member was killed or for some important work’’.

It was not only Pravesh who felt the fear of Rathi family but instead whole region did.

Now that all the male members of the family are behind the bars or either killed in encounters, Pravesh was not able to resist himself from visiting his hometown, on Monday afternoon his two children, wife and some other members flocked the village.

It comes days after the arrest of notorious criminal Praveen Rathi in a police encounter in Baghpat Doghat Region.
