Meerut | Tuesday | 3rd January, 2017

Summary:

"We would never allow anything inappropriate to ever take place at a BSP campaign event," Chaudhary said.

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has landed itself in a soup with a video, showing women performing `provocative dances` at a candidate`s campaign event in Hapur district`s Garhmukteshwar constituency, being shared widely on social media platforms.

"This is a conspiracy by some political opponents who are worried that they will be trounced in the election.

Perhaps, I had not reached the event before the cultural performances had started.

If something is happening on the stage before I even reach the venue, then I cannot stop it.

MEERUT: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has landed itself in a soup with a video, showing women performing `provocative dances` at a candidate`s campaign event in Hapur district`s Garhmukteshwar constituency, being shared widely on social media platforms.

It has landed BSP candidate from Garhmukteshwar Prashant Chaudhary in trouble. The message being circulated with the video claims that the women, who can be seen performing with a poster of Mayawati in the background, are "bar dancers" while some men in the crowd can be heard whistling.

Chaudhary, however, has denied the allegations and claimed that these were "folk dances"."First of all, I am not aware of such a dance taking place.

Perhaps, I had not reached the event before the cultural performances had started.

If something is happening on the stage before I even reach the venue, then I cannot stop it.

Secondly, these were local women who prepared a folk dance.
