Summary:

Meerut: The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has pinned a lot of hope on party chief Mayawati’s first political rally in Meerut after the assembly election debacle earlier this year doing well. Hence, the Meerut rally holds added significance for her. The party chief will use the stage to highlight the plight of backward castes under the BJP government. Mayawati’s Dalit representation has been diminishing and if BSP doesn’t perform well in the 2019 elections, there could be a vacuum in Dalit politics. Also, the BSP chief has to understand that at this point she needs a merger more than her likely allies,” said Satish Prakash, a Dalit activist and political analyst..
