Mum: Suburban commuters protest at Umroli

MUMBAI: Suburban commuters resorted to rail roko at Umroli railway station between Boisar and Palghar protesting movement of long-distance trains over local trains on Wednesday.The Bandra Jammu Tavi Vivek Express train was halted on the tracks at Umroli after commuters heading to offices came onto the tracks.They alleged that while local trim services had not resumed citing water on tracks, long-distance trains were running.They demanded halt of long distance trains at Umroli station. Commuters have been without local trains since Monday.Western Railway ran a few local trains between Vasai and Virar, but it had to be discontinued due to water still on the tracks at Nalasopara.Umroli commuters are dependent on the Dahanu-Churchgate local train and shuttle services betweeen Dahanu and Virar.Train trains are running at restricted speed between Bhayander and Churchgate..
