Some power consumers to pay less, others more: MERC

The power bills of 10 lakh consumers of BEST will come down by 6-8 per cent while that of 33 lakh odd consumers of Adani and Tata will pay up to 2 per cent more, starting September. There is good news for 10 lakh power consumers residing in south and central Mumbai, and bad news for those staying in suburbs. The MERC has decided to raise the power rates for domestic as well as agricultural consumers all across the state except south Mumbai. While addressing a press conference at his Colaba office, MERC chairman Anand Kulkarni informed the media that people of south Mumbai would pay less on power bills.
