Summary:

MUMBAI: A private school in Vasai snipped off strands of a Class X boy's hair on Monday after he allegedly ignored warnings and continued to turn up shabbily dressed and with long hair. His father told TOI that the boy's hair had not been trimmed as they had the Ganesh idol at home and "we do not cut hair during such auspicious occasions". The principal told TOI that while it was wrong to lop off the boy's hair, it was becoming increasingly difficult to instil etiquette among students. The boy claimed he was dragged by the collar to the principal's office. Later, the boy was taken to the principal's office where a centimetre of his front hair was cut by a non-teaching staffer. He was then sent home.Within half-an-hour, the 15-year-old student's parent along with around 10 local Shiv Sena activists marched to the school questioning its action..
